A former Lagos senator, Tokunbo Afikuyomi, will on Wednesday speak as a resource person at the ongoing programme for female legislators and female politicians across the country.
According to an invitation sighted by Politicos and signed by the Director General of National Institute for Democratic and Legislative Studies NIDLS, Prof Abubakar Suleiman, it said Afikuyomi will be speaking on the topic, “Women and Elections in Nigeria: Key Factors for Empowerment” in Abuja. The two-day programmes is Organised by NIDLS in conjunction with UNDP and UN Women.
The main objective of the training according to the organisers is to strengthen the technical capacity of female legislators and female politicians In lawmaking and lobbying towards the enactment of gender sensitive legislation(s) and domestication of international conventions and statues and also to promote women participation in politics and governance in Nigeria.
