A crucial meeting of stakeholders and elders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been slated by Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson.
The meeting is coming ahead of the scheduled September 3, 2019 primary election of the party to pick its governorship candidate for the November election.
The Chairman of the State PDP Elders Council, Air Vice-Marshal Larry Koinyan, issued notice of the meeting in a statement at the weekend. He said that the meeting would hold on Tuesday at the Governor’s conference room, Government House, Yenagoa.
Koinyan said former President Goodluck Jonathan and prominent PDP elders were expected to attend the meeting. Tension is growing in the party in the state following the number and caliber of PDP members that have picked the forms for the primary which include several bigwigs and associates of the governor.
The former Air Force chief further called on all the statutory members of the council inaugurated in line with constitutional provisions to attend the meeting.
He explained that the maiden meeting of the council would hold with the entire PDP State Executive Council led by its Chairman, Chief Moses Cleopas, in attendance.
