Diplomatic relations with between Nigeria and South Africa has worsened following Nigeria’s decision to call off her scheduled participation at the World Economic Forum (WEF) scheduled for South Africa this month.
This could be the outcome of the strategic meeting held Wednesday between President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Foreign Affairs Minister Geoffrey Onyeama in the State House today.
Also Nigeria has recalled the country’s High Commissioner to South Africa. These measures are to protest continued xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said this in a short report quoting a presidential source.
“Nigeria recalls ambassador to South Africa, pulls out of World Economic Summit, demands full compensation – presidential source,” the report from the government agency said.
