As if to confirm the information from multiple sources on the appointment of a new presidential aide on National Assembly Matters (Senate), the President has appointed Senator Babajide Omoworare as his Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters (Senate).

Omoworare replaces Senator Ita Enang who has been redeployed as Senior Special Assistant on Niger Delta Affairs.

The new Presidential aide on National Assembly Matters (Senate) was elected on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) as Senator for Osun East Senatorial District in April 2011. He was re-elected into the Senate in March 2015, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Enang was appointed Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate) in 2015.

He represented the Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State in the House of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) between 1999 and 2011. He was elected Senator for Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District in 2011– a position he occupied until 2015 when he defected from the PDP to the ruling APC.

Enang’s counterpart in charge of the House of Representatives, Mallam Umar El-Yakub retained his position as Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives). The same applies to Mrs Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire who retained her position as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

All the appointments, it was learnt, take effect from the 29th of May, 2019.
