Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari, has been dragged to Police over the secondary school certification of President Muhammadu Buhari. Kyari was in the presidential election tribunal to give testimony on the validity of the Cambridge testimonial he presented in court.
A petition signed by a legal practitioner, Kalu Kalu Agu and dated August 14 is alleging that the testimonial presented in court by Kyari was forged. He wants the London Metropolitan Police to investigate the matter with a view to filing criminal proceedings against the CoS.

The petitioner alleged that circumstances surrounding the procurement of the document was not tidy. He contends that a third party cannot collect a certificate where he is not a university or the employer of the candidate. Kyari who is a Cambridge-trained lawyer testified in court that he was the one that received the document.
It will be recalled that in his testimony as the third defence witness for the President in his case against the petition of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, at the Tribunal, Kyari admitted that he collected President Buhari’s certificates from Cambridge..

He made the statement during cross examination by the counsel to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Lateef Fagbemi.
He said he has been the Chief of Staff to the President since August 27, 2015, adding that all his communication with President Buhari has been in English Language.

Thereafter, counsel to the petitioners, Mr Livy Uzoukwu, told Mr Kyari that he said he was the one who collected the documents from Cambridge. In his response, the presidential aide said yes, adding that he collected the documents on July 18, 2019.
