Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said it has made plans and strategies bring to an end internet/cyber crimes and related offences in the country.
This was revealed on Thursday by the Ilorin Zonal Head of the anti-graft agency for Isyaku Sharu. He spoke when he received members of the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), led by the chairman, Malam Umar Abdulwahab.
The zonal head said the cyber space must be safe to attract foreign investment.
He noted that activities of the commission had gone beyond conviction to prevention of the act.
Sharu said apart from the routine raiding of the hideouts of those involved in cybercrimes, the commission had also embarked on sensitisation programmes to educate youths on the need to stay away from internet fraud.
The zonal head urged parents to show interest in the activities of their children to prevent them from joining bad company.
Abdulwahab assured the EFCC of the union’s determination to support its activities.
