Forget Hamuisu Bala who is also known as Wadume, the alleged notorious kidnap kingpin whose connections led to the killing of policemen in Taraba State by soldiers recently. The biggest kingpin in that part of the country works with the Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku. He is Paul Angulu alias, Fusky. Impeccable sources told Politicos on Sunday that Fusky is the deadlier of the two “evils” bedeviling the state. And that Fusky and Wadume apart from being into alleged criminal activities including kidnapping are close to politicians in the state and the governor in particular.

Meanwhile, residents of Taraba State have expressed their joy over the capture of the two men. Our sources say “Fusky is deadlier than Wadume. Hamisu Wadume may be richer than Fusky, but Fusky is more established, connected, more sophisticated and better exposed than Wadume and has caused us a lot of damage both in the present and even in the past, particularly in Southern Taraba.”
Our source claims that “the history of crises in southern Taraba whether ethno-religious and otherwise won’t be complete without Fusky’s involvement whether directly or indirectly. He is believed to be an accomplice in insecurity in the southern Taraba axis.”
There have been a lot of ethnic and religious conflicts within the state in time past, but the recent ones are said to have the imprints of this deadly “political thug, kidnapper and ethnic warrior.” Fusky we learnt has always been on the wanted list of the police, but somehow has been protected by the powers that be both in the political set up and the security agencies. He is a close ally of dreaded and wanted Tiv, Benue State terrorist Mr Torwase Akwaza alias Ghana who is still at large.
“In 2016 there was a security raid that took place in Wukari where the security was targeting Ghana but ended up arresting Fusky who was later released after some persuasions by a top politician in the state.” That top politician we understand lives in government house, Jalingo, Taraba state.
In Taraba State, a lot of street boys control the politicians and the political process. They also precipitate the crises we see that claim many lives. Fusky is connected to politicians who are his financial benefactors in the state. In 2015 when the present governor was first elected, in his quest to engage the “bad boys” through the carrot and stick approach, he appointed Fusky as his Senior Special Assistant on “Madrid Woods Revenue”.
This gesture, to some extent, helped curtail insecurity in southern Taraba as “Fusky and his boys were gainfully employed as they were busy collecting taxes from woods merchants. Fusky made a lot of money from this office and other sources with official protection to the point that whenever you come across his convoy you will be left wandering if he is the governor of the State,” claimed our source that is familiar with the politics of the state.
Fusky with money and influence decided to vie for a seat in the State House of Assembly to represent Donga Constituency in 2019 but lost the PDP ticket to the incumbent member.
It will appear that insecurity in the state is fueled by people close to government in the state. Media reports last week quoted Wadume of collecting money running into several millions from politicians including the state governor. He equally claimed to constantly speak with the governor who handed him his number personally. He visits the government house too according to the reports.
Wadume was in Abuja during the inauguration of members of the national Assembly. He is friends with Hon Danladi Baido, member of the House of Representatives who is a close ally of Gov Ishaku.
The arrest of Fusky and Wadume we are told will go a long way to return peace to Taraba state. Fusky is fingered in a lot of the communal clashes as he is alleged to be a ring leader in circulation of arms and retains the protection of the government and the governor who he works for up till date as an SSA.
Fusky hails from Donga. He is the younger brother of a popular gospel musician, Lordswill Angulu.
