Captain Tijani Balarabe, the Army officer, who allegedly ordered the killing of policemen and freed Hamisu Bala alias Wadume on August 6, once assaulted his superior’s wife.
Sources close to Capt. Balarabe told politicos.ng that he is a very controversial military officer who has had issues with the authorities in the past. For example, he is said to have certificate forgery issue.
He enrolled through regular recruitment but was commissioned as an officer after attaining the rank of a Staff Sergeant.
Capt. Balarabe is from Danburam Family in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State. Few years ago, he served in Maiduguri, Borno State and his team was attacked by Boko Haram elements. The captain sustained serious injury in his leg which took time to heal. This is why he walks with a bend.
Later on, he was posted to Abia State. While in Abia, it was learnt that he assaulted the wife of a superior officer and was posted back to Taraba State as part of the punishment.
A source who knows Captain Balarabe described him as a “gallant officer who knows his job, but always prone to controversy”.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that two of the three murdered members of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) are from Taraba State.
