The Jigawa State House of Assembly has suspended its erstwhile Majority Leader and Chief Whip of the Assembly, Alhaji Sani Ishaq and Mr. Aminu Sule sankara, for six months over alleged interference with the ongoing investigation into the finances of the Assembly.
Speaking with reporters in Dutse, the House Committee Chairman on Information, Mr. Aminu Zakari (APC Gwiwa) said the members were suspended with a view to allow for fair investigations into allegations of financial impropriety .
According to him, both members allegedly tried to retrieve some financial documents from the Ministry of Finance to prevent the Committee investigating the allegations of misappropriation of funds between 2017 and 2018.
Both Ishaq and Sankara are members of the APC representing Gumel and Ringim constituencies.
They were principal officers during the period under review.
The duo has denied the allegations.
Ishaq and Sankara were impeached alongside the former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Isah Idris, in May this year.
In a related development, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Idris Garba read to his colleagues the names of 11 commissioner-nominees sent to the Assembly by Governor Muhammed Badaru Abubakar.
Of the names, only three former commissioners were returned.
