The lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Dino Melaye has lost the Kogi State Governorship ticket of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to Engr. Musa Wada, the younger brother of the immediate past Governor of the state, Captain Idris Wada. Wada hails from Dekina Local Government Area of the state.
While the younger Wada polled a total of 748 votes to clinch the party ticket, Melaye came fourth with 70 votes.
The first runner up was Abubakar Mohammed Idris, the son of a former governor of the state, Ibrahim Idris (Ibro), who polled 710 votes.
He was followed by Capt. Wada, who was the second runner up with 345 votes.
Others included Aminu Suleiman, 55 votes; Victor Adoji, 54 votes; Erico Joseph, 42; Air Vice-Marshal Saliu Atawodi (retd.), 11 votes; Emmanuel Omebije, nine votes; Mohammed Shuaibi, four votes; Bayo Michael, two votes and Jabiru Haruna, zero votes.
Dino who was injured during the election is seen above receiving treatment in hospital. There was shooting early in the exercise.
