‘Kogi Is The Capital Of Poverty,’ Says Yakubu Mohammed As He Picks Guber Form

One of the founders of Newswatch magazine, Yakubu Mohammed has purchased the governorship form of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja on Friday.

The veteran journalist is vying for the governorship of his home state, Kogi. The election is due in November.

He is among a long list of aspirants which include the incumbent, Yahaya Bello. But it appears the about 30 aspirants who have indicated interest have had a few picking up the forms. The governor has since picked up his.

While at the APC secretariat, Mohammed said Kogi was gradually degenerating into the capital of poverty and thuggery in the country.

Mohammed, who spoke with reporters after obtaining his Nomination and Expression of Interest Form to contest the governorship primary, said the Kogi of today is not what the founding fathers dreamed of.

The foremost journalist however said Governor Yahaya Bello should not be blamed for the lack of performance, saying the he could not have performed above his capacity.

He said ordinarily the governor is entitled to a second term in office, adding however the decision is based on capacity to deliver.
