The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Sunday night stormed to Jigawa state All Progressives Congress (APC) State headquarters and arrested 16 persons suspected to be illicit drugs users and dealers.
Parading the suspects at the NDLEA office, the Deputy Commandant Operation and Intelligence in the state, Oko Michael said the operation was carried out on the instruction of the State Governor Abubakar Badaru. This followed the dirty and illigal activities in the party (APC) Secretariat.
Michael explained that the “16 suspects were drug consumers and illicit dealers at the All Progressive Congress (APC) office”.
According to him16 suspects comprises of 15 males and one female were arrested after a tip off and the instruction given to them by the state Governor Badaru to clear the premises of the party of such miscreants.
He noted that the suspects were arrested at the premises and inside the APC’s state secretariat over the weekend. Saying three of the suspects will be taken to the court on Tuesday to serve as a deterrent to others with similar motive.
Adding that among those to be taken to the court include the female who runs a kiosk at the premises of the secretariat where a large number of wraps of the substance were found in her possession.
He further explained that the remaining suspects will receive canceling against next time because some of them it may be their first time to be involved in such act.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the APC, Malam Nasiru Dahiru Jahun denied that those arrested were their officials, rather they are party supporters.
