Thugs and bouncers allegedly hired by the management of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), has taken over the Abuja headquarters of the organisation and prevented workers from gaining entrance into the office.
The NSITF workers had mobilised for a peaceful demonstration to demand payment of the unpaid entitlements among other labour related issues.
But were surprised to meet the heavily armed private security guards and others who could be categorised as thugs, surrounding the office and preventing them from carrying out their legitimate peaceful protest.
Checks reveal that the organisation has continued to be in the news for wrong reasons. Recently, a former Head of the organisation was removed in controverial circumstances over alleged forged National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) discharge certificate.

The staffers complained that the Management of NSITF led by Maureen Allagoa, and the Minister of Employment, Labour and Productivity, Dr Chris Nwabueze Ngige have taken an undemocratic approach to resolving labour matters by trying to intimidate them into silence. But they have vowed to continue the protest over new pay packages.
The workers have accused the Minister of allegedly turning the agency into a ‘cash cow’ to the detriment of the workers and the core objective of the organisation.
