Nigeria is currently managing over 4,000 active Coronavirus cases as at Wednesday. This is as over 400 new infections were confirmed in 15 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).
The new cases — 474 infections across the country — represent a slight decrease over the past 24 hours, as Nigeria confirmed 550 new positive samples on Tuesday.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed the new cases in its update for December 9, 2020.
FCT was top of the list with 180 new infections; Lagos came next with 134 cases, while Kebbi recorded the third highest figure with 45 positive samples.
With the new cases, Nigeria currently has a total of 4,243 active cases of the coronavirus in 35 states and the FCT — only Kogi currently has no positive infection.
FCT has the highest figure with 1,345 active cases, followed by Lagos with 793, and Kaduna with 355.
However, according to NCDC, the confirmed cases recorded on Wednesday “includes data reported from Kebbi and Adamawa over 2 weeks”.
Meanwhile, 132 patients were discharged on Wednesday, and two new deaths were confirmed, increasing the fatality count to 1,184.
Out of 70,669 cases now confirmed across the country, a total of 65,242 persons have recovered.
