Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has said that the Corps has concluded plans to site zonal offices in the six geo-political zones in the country.
He made this public when he visited Niger State being one of the six states that will have the regional offices.
Ibrahim met with Niger State Acting Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Ketso in Minna where he solicited support for the new office.
He said he was in the state to request office accommodation and accommodations for the staffers who would be posted to man the office.
“We have gotten approval to site six area offices in the six geo-political zones across the country. Niger state has been chosen to host the North Central area office.
“We are here to appeal to the state government to provide accommodations for the staff that will be posted to man the secretariat. We hope you will oblige us this request.”
The NYSC Director General, who appreciated the state government for its support and cooperation so far, appealed that the state government make its camps habitable in order to make the Corp members comfortable.
In his response, the Niger state Acting Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Ketso assured that the state government is ready to give its land for to ensure that the location of the area office becomes possible.
He said that the state is ready to partner with any federal institution who indicates interest of coming to the state.
Ketso then said a office would be made available to NYSC, “we are ready to strengthen our relationship with all federal government institutions in the state. We are glad that NYSC valued us enough to choose the state to site its north central office.”
He further assured that that the state government is working at constructing the permanent orientation camp to make the stay of the Corps members comfortable.
