The Ransome Kuti Old Student Association , RAOSA, 91 set has donated furniture to students of Ransome Kuti Memorial Junior and Senior Grammar School in Lagos.
Chairman of RAOSA, Olawale Martins, an Architect, during a brief ceremony at the school premises to commission the project said the gesture was a way of giving back to the school.
Speaking during the commissioning, he called on the students of the school to put the furniture into good use and not damage them.
Some of the items donated to the school include100 units of students furniture, six furniture for teachers and six units of magic marker boards.
Martins said, ”Between the time we came into the school and now, we realised that a lot has changed. Changes that cannot be taken as normal standard of education has taken place.

”Our set started this school when it was newly built but what we are seeing today is not what we started with and not what we could say about education. As old student association, we’ve seen poverty in education and we want to alleviate the poverty in our educational system through this items we are giving out to the school today.
”We want to use this opportunity to call on the students of the school to put this items into good use and not damage them. I remember during our own time, we don’t damage school property”.
The Principal of the school, Mrs. Christiana Dosumu, who received the items on behalf of the school said RAOSA 91 set has given back to the school in a big way.
She said she is overwhelmed by the gesture of old students of 91 set.
”I am sincerely overwhelmed by what RAOSA 91 set did here today. I want to appreciate the Chairman, the Executive members and other old student of 91 set on behalf of Ransome Kuti Memorial Senior Grammar School. I want to appreciate the 91 set of the school because they are giving back to the school in a very big way.
”I want to assure you that we are going to maintain these items and ensure that the student put them into good use. I want to use this opportunity to say that we still have some challenges and part of the challenges is the roof of the school building.
”We’ve been battling with the leaking roof of the school. We are soliciting support from the old students because this is not what only one set can do. If all the past sets can come together, they will be able to fix the roof of the school which has become a problem to us whenever it rains.
Also, the Principal of the junior school, who spoke at the presentation ceremony, Mr. Afolabi Olawale, saidbthe furniture will go a long way to motivate the teachers to do more in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He assured RAOSA 91 set that the furniture will be well taken care of.
”These furniture will motivate our staff. It is a way of giving back to the society which will go a long way in motivating the staff of the school to give their best.
”I must not forget to add that the society has changed and we all must not forget where we are coming from. I promise that we are going to maintain it so that you can do more ”.
President of RAOSA, Kingsley Muoneke, who was present at the event said the presentation of the furnitures will definitely not be the final bust stop of old student association ofbtge school
”I want to use this opportunity to thank 91 set of RAOSA for coming up with this lofty idea in a very short period of time.
”You all can see what they’ve been able to come up with when this new Chairman, Achitect Martins and other Executive members came into office on June 12, 2019.
”This is a wonderful achievement under the leadership of Martin’s and it should be commended. I want to use this opportunity to assure the school that this will definitely not be the final bus stop of lifting the school to an enviable height of becoming the best public school in Nigeria”.
