Political differences between former governors of Edo State Adams Oshiomohle and John Odigie-Oyegun came to light Monday as the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) stayed away from the 80th birthday anniversary of his predecessor in Benin.
The two Edo State leaders have had issues since Oshiomohle replaced Oyegun as leader of their party.
However, that did not prevent what is turning out to be a faction of APC led by the current Governor Godwin Obaseki from leading the celebration.
Also, leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came with a strong team led by their National Chairman. They joined their counterparts in Obaseki’s APC as partisanship was put aside to celebrate the 80th birthday of immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress and former Governor of Edo State, Chief Odigie-Oyegun.

Other PDP chieftains present at the event was Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin Kingdom, former Governor Lucky Igbinedion, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, state chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih and other state executives of the PDP.
Comrade Oshiomhole was however absent at the event. Although he was in Edo, at his hometown in Iyambo.
MInisterial designate, Dr. Ehanire Osagie, said Oyegun deserved all the accolades and being celebrated having achieved what many people dreamet of.
Other dignitaries that graced the church service to celebrate with Chief Odigi-Oyegun were Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki; Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu and his wife, Betty Akeredolu; Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu; the Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Frank Okiye; the Chief Judge of Edo State, Justice Esohe Ikponmwen, Minister Designate, Dr. Osagie Ehanire; Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq, among others.
