The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has revealed how his prayers averted what could have been a fatal accident when the helicopter conveying the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), to Kogi State, crash-landed.
Osinbajo and 11 others survived a helicopter crash in Kaaba, Kogi State, on the 2nd of February, 2019 – barely three weeks to the 2019 general election.
Addressing a mammoth crowd of worshippers who converged on the Redemption Camp, located on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, in the early hours of Saturday, Adeboye dwelt, among others, on how God could give one a special protection.
He spoke on the theme of the convention tagged “And God Said”.
While stressing that God could give one a special protection, Adeboye recalled how God whispered to him while preparing for the Holy Ghost Congress in February this year that his “son was in danger”.
“In February this year while we were preparing for the Holy Ghost Congress, God whispered to my ears that my son was in danger. I quickly put a call across to him and told him we needed to see. But, because he was busy with campaigns, he came late. We had finished the service.
“So, I said let’s meet in my office. Of course, I could not tell him what God has said so as not to create any dear in him. But, while we were praying, I repeated a sentence four times. And that sentence was ‘Father, please protect him.’
“The next day, we heard of an helicopter crash. I saw on camera how the helicopter was falling from the sky like a stone. And when the helicopter would, it landed on the side that my son was sitting. Yet, they all came without a scratch on their bodies,” he said.
Although, Adeboye did not mention Osinbajo’s name but following his narration, it was obvious he was referring to the 2nd February, 2019 helicopter crash that the Vice-President had.
His account also corroborated an earlier account that Osinbajo had given of the incident
While speaking in Lagos on Saturday, 2nd March, 2019, at the 35th anniversary of Church’s Holy Ghost Service, which coincided with Adeboye’s 77th birthday anniversary, the Vice-President said, “I am Yemi Osinbajo, Pastor in charge of Lagos Province 48 of RCCG. I thank God for the salvation of my soul.
“Two testimonies: The first is that on February 2nd, I came late for the Holy Ghost Service. After the service, I went to see Daddy in his office and he said he wanted to pray for me. My wife, Dolly, and I knelt down as he prayed, ‘Father, I want you to give special protection to your son.’
He prayed that three times and stopped. Then he prayed it again.I was getting worried about why he had to pray that way. But anyway, later that day the helicopter I was travelling in crashed in Kabba. All 12 of us in the helicopter survived without a scratch. I want to bless the name of the Lord for that.”
Osinbajo’s other testimony was his re-election with President Muhammadu Buhari.
“My second testimony is that on February 23, I was re-elected with President Buhari, for a second term as Vice-President and I want to praise the Lord. Praise Jesus. Who did it?Jesus!” Osinbajo added.
