Sowore Wants Court To Annul His Detention, Says Order Breached His Rights

Presidential candidate of the African Action Alliance (AAC) in the 2019 election, Omoyele Sowore, Friday applied to the Federal High Court, Abuja to set aside its order granting the Department of State Services (DSS) to detain him for 45 days.

Lawyer to the convener of #RevolutionNow, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), who is also a renowned Human Rights activist contended among others in the 19 grounds of application that the order issued by the court breached his (Sowore’s) constitutionally guaranteed fundamental rights.

The publisher of Sahara Reporters, added that the order of court amounted to “legalising the illegality” of his detention for about four days prior to the issuance of the court order on Thursday.

Sowore has been in the news in the last one week over his call for a revolution in Nigeria. On Friday, his party expelled him over sundry allegations of wrong doing.
